Recorded statements are an important part of the claims handling process and an invaluable tool for establishing facts, timelines, witnesses, and overall compensability. A well conducted recorded statement, taken early in the claim, can assist a legal defense by locking down the facts and circumstances before adverse counsel has an opportunity to gain influence. An in-person recorded statement has the added benefit of both being able to observe the subjects body language during the interview, and build a more solid rapport with a subject, thereby possibly gaining additional information.
